What is wallet funding provenance?

Funding provenance is the investigation of where a wallet's funds came from and which transactions establish that path. Depending on the network and available history, a research tool may identify recent incoming transfers, earliest known funding events or shared source patterns.

Why funding context is useful

A new wallet with very little history can be difficult to evaluate in isolation. Its funding source may reveal a connection worth investigating. Likewise, several wallets receiving funds from the same address can create a useful lead for deeper research.

What shared funding does not prove

Common funding can occur through exchanges, bridges, payment services, faucets, protocol contracts, treasuries or other shared infrastructure. A shared funding source is therefore a relationship signal, not automatic proof that recipient wallets have the same owner.

Funding provenance should generate an investigation question — “why do these wallets share this source?” — not an unsupported identity conclusion.

A practical funding-provenance workflow

  • Identify the relevant incoming funding transaction or transactions.
  • Confirm the source address and network context.
  • Check whether the source is common infrastructure or a wallet of specific interest.
  • Compare timing and value across other wallets in the investigation.
  • Keep provider/history coverage visible before treating the pattern as complete.

How AYZO uses funding signals

AYZO treats funding as one evidence category alongside holder, relationship and contract context. The product can surface the signal while preserving caveats instead of translating it directly into a risk or ownership label.
